Professional Art tutors will set you off with ideas and techniques that will help you record and respond to what you see in a variety of ways – making good use of a camera, sketching with different materials, searching for colours, looking at textures, collecting objects. What’s important as a beginner is to try different materials and explore different methods of application so you can find what you connect with particularly.

In the studio you will be given the opportunity to develop your responses and explore different directions using a variety of techniques. It is surprising just how many possibilities and ideas there are. Apart from the technical assistance of the Art tutors, being part of a creative group will encourage, empower and inspire you.

All artists need to feed their creativity in order to have something to draw from – visual stimulation, different experiences, new contexts – Nepal has it all – a whole new palette of colours, the buzzing of life, beautiful landscapes. You will be brimming with new ideas, new thoughts and a whole new energy.

The excursions and demonstrations are designed to maximise your creative experience in Nepal and ensure you have many memories and experiences to take back home. In the studio you will be given the opportunity to develop your ideas or explore new ones. The Art tutors will be able to give you feedback if you wish or technical assistance to achieve certain results. Being surrounded by creative people, all with different ideas, tastes and aspirations will awaken your sense of exploration and may even tempt you to try something you never had the courage to before. Alternatively it may be just the space and concentration on artwork that you are looking for.

Special arrangements are made for photographers depending on requirements. Extra excursions are organised to ensure you can capture the images that you need – this may be very early in the morning, or as the sun sets behind the mountains and temples. It may be that you want to capture a particular part of life on the streets, a particular event, a particular aspect of Nepal – we will help you achieve these results.

We have art tutors specialising in photography that will be able to introduce beginners to the basic techniques in camera use, how to capture difficult images, how to improve their photographs with computer software, and how to use and manipulate photographs to make original art.

For experienced photographers, there is always something new to know. Being part of a group will allow you to attempt new ideas, will open your eyes to different possibilities and will give you feedback on the messages your images convey.
The idea of the workshop is to give all participants plenty of access to the sights of Kathmandu and the surrounding valley. Group excursions, with a cultural expert and guide on hand, are arranged on a daily basis for all those that wish to attend, and demonstrations by local artists are available for those that are interested.

In addition, we make all the necessary arrangements for artists that want to spend more time painting and sketching outside. There are many sites to choose from - beautiful mountain landscapes, views over the city and valley, exotic gardens and plants, the unique traditional architecture, and all the wonderful diversity of life on the streets.

The itinerary for these are finalised after discussion with the participating group to maximise the creative experience for everybody.
With no commitment at all - you can add your name to a list of interested participants for a particular month. See if the dates you would like are available and if you have any concerns or queries don’t hesitate to contact us:
