I have been painting and drawing all my life. I studied at Brighton University in the UK, and The Surikov Art Academy in Moscow. I had several exhibitions in France where I was selling my work, and then I spent the next 15 years or so travelling around the world with my family – China, Uzbekistan, Hong Kong, Cambodia, Africa, Russia and now here in Nepal. Wherever possible I have set up studios to encourage and facilitate artists getting together. It is enormously stimulating and eye-opening for me to work with students and artists of all different nationalities, abilities and experience, and a lot of fun!

I believe every artist must travel their own path, each unique, and that it is a journey of exploration and discovery. Bringing artists (even those that are just about to take their first step into the creative world) together is a rewarding experience for everybody involved as a creative exchange takes place which is emboldening and stimulating.

Ultimately we learn most, simply by doing, but there are some technical aspects that it really helps to know and can save you a lot of ‘error’ time. It also helps to be given a starting point, or the courage to try something completely new, or the feedback on how your work is perceived by others. These workshops in Nepal offer a rich, stimulating environment and all the benefits of an intense working artist community.
